PL15 Water-based Demulsifier

PL15 is a broadly defined salt substance with demulsification properties. In a naturally stable emulsion system, the surface of the oil droplets in the emulsion typically carries a charge (e.g., negative charge), maintaining stability through electrostatic repulsion.

PL15 is a broadly defined salt substance with demulsification properties. In a naturally stable emulsion system, the surface of the oil droplets in the emulsion typically carries a charge (e.g., negative charge), maintaining stability through electrostatic repulsion. As a strong electrolyte, the metal cations and non-metallic anions produced by ionization increase the ionic strength of the solution, compressing the thickness of the electrical double layer surrounding the oil droplets. When the double layer is compressed to a critical value, the electrostatic repulsion between the oil droplets weakens, causing them to coalesce into larger droplets, thus achieving oil-water separation.

As a strong electrolyte, PL15 reduces the solubility of surfactants and emulsifiers in water. It also disrupts the emulsifier's hydration layer, weakening its ability to stabilize the emulsion, thereby achieving demulsification.
